Caro was born under the waxing half moon in the forest of Ardeep. His mother had been blessed by a dream message from Sehanine about her child’s duty. She saw Caro leading a long line of hundred of elves on a journey to Arvandor. From a young age, Caro was tutored under the priestesses of the Daughter of the Night Skies. His path was to prepare to learn the secrets of the elven isles in order to help his race on its journey.
One day, twelve years ago, Caro’s meditation was interrupted by the screams of the acolytes on the lower level of the church. Two wraiths had entered the chamber, somehow bypassing the magical seals and alarms. In their attack, 17 elves were killed and 3 were stricken with life changing fear. Among those so affected as Caro’s mother. She now lives in a vegetative state, staring out of the window, gibbering about someone, or something, named Ctholth. No amount of investigation has revealed any information about that name.
For the next 2 years, all resources of the elves of Ardeep were focused on the attack on the church. Little was ever learned about why the wraiths attacked, how they entered the church, or who might have directed or assisted them. The only clues that were gleaned were a path of death through the forest that led back to Waterdeep and a single gold coin found in the church that had been minted in Netheril over 1000 years previously.
Since that time, the church of Sehanine in Ardeep has focused on learning the secrets of the undead in Waterdeep and driving them back to the darkness. Caro has taken on this task with particular zeal, feeling guilty and ashamed for not being up to saving his brothers and sisters, and, especially, his mother.
